Visiting a hospital in Asheklon, Mofaz called for increased security in the country’s south after the barrage of rockets landed in Israel.

One of the rockets landed in Sderot’s industrial area, falling just outside a factory, with another hitting a building, causing some damage, and the third still to be found. One person is reported as lightly injured, with another suffering from shock. Israel blames all rocket fire from Gaza on Islamist militant group, Hamas.

Mofaz rounded off his visit by describing the delay in implementing security measures as "a serious failure in defence."
