Palestinian children die in tragic road accident

Up to a dozen Palestinian children have reportedly died after their school bus overturned and caught fire following a collision with a lorry in the West Bank.

Paramedics on the scene said the two vehicles had collided head-on in the rain on a "very steep and slippery road" near Jerusalem.

Casualties have been taken to a hospital in Ramallah for treatment but it is understood that more than 30 children have been injured in the crash, and there are fears the death toll may rise further.
 
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has declared three days of mourning.
