The Murgab Bridge in Jerusalem was closed

Today, December 12th, the Western Wall Heritage Foundation has finally closed the Murgab Bridge, which connects the wall with the Temple Mount. This can incite a conflict with Jordan. The bridge was closed by order of the Engineer of the City of Jerusalem that has been warning about the risks of its collapse.

The foundation is obligated to fulfill the laws of security, despite Jordan's threat that the Status Quo should not be violated; the threat came despite the fact that only Jews and tourists use the bridge to begin with.

The municipality of Jerusalem announced about its intention to close the bridge last week. If the risk of collapse was not enough, the bridge is made of wood, which does not correspond to contemporary construction requisites.

The temporary bridge was not demolished until now, because PM Benjamin Netanyahu is afraid of Muslim demonstrations of violence that would emerge following such an act.
