Hollande condemned anti-Semitism at a memorial service in Toulouse

French President Francois Hollande delivered a ringing condemnation of anti-Jewish feeling Sunday at a memorial service to the four Jewish victims of radical Islamist gunman Mohamed Merah on the first anniversary of the Toulouse and Montauban attacks, as he recalled the French Republic’s complicity in Nazi persecution of Jews and  insisted the crime that struck the Ozar Hatorah school must be called by its proper name of anti-Semitism.

The Toulouse gunman died in a police siege of his flat, just days after committing his last murder, but some, like Djema Legouad, who lost her son to Merah, still hope accomplices can be brought to justice.

Police in France have arrested two men in connection with the shooting spree committed last March by gunman Mohammed Merah, which left 7 people dead including a rabbi and 3 Jewish children. The men aged 29 and 30 were detained in southwest France in an ongoing hunt for accomplices of the al-Qaeda inspired killer.
