Diplomatic officials in Jerusalem said Sunday that after speaking with their counterparts in Egypt, the cancellation of the gas deal was part of a commercial dispute between private companies and Egyptian government corporations that is presently being adjudicated abroad. 

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood categorically rejects dialogue with Israel, the group's spokesman, Mahmoud Ghazlan, told Asharq Alawsat in an interview published Wednesday. Ghazlan said, "Our group is not prepared to conduct dialogue with Israel."

Israel's ambassador to Egypt, Yitzhak Levanon, returned to Cairo Sunday.
